The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, His Excellency Gaston Browne, officially opened the Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda in Beijing, China during a ceremony held at the Sanlitun Diplomatic Complex in Chaoyang District, Beijing.

His Excellency stated in his speech during the ceremony that the establishment of this embassy indicates progress in relations between the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and the People’s Republic of China.

The ceremony also included speeches by the Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to China, His Excellency Mr. Brian Stuart Young, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, EP Chet Green, and the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Xu Feihong.

The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda arrived on an official visit to China, where he told reporters upon his arrival that he aims to enhance the level of cooperation between Antigua and Barbuda and the People’s Republic of China, and that the main goal of his visit to China is to attract more investments to Antigua and Barbuda while strengthening trade relations with China. He also praised the important role China plays in the social and economic development of Antigua and Barbuda.

He noted that Antigua and Barbuda and the People’s Republic of China share the closest relationship that exists between any large nation and a small island nation.
